We aim to preserve and promote Skelmersdale's farming and coal mining heritage and exhibit all aspects of local history at various points around the town, particularly to the younger generation and the influx of new residents since the town's major development.
Taylor Street doesn't look much different today!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother lived at number 6 adjoining the cotton mill. As a child I was fascinated by the drone of the mill generator (or 'dynamo' as my parents referred to it) which was situated in the room next to nanna's parlour.
ReplyDeleteIf you continued straight down the road and through the mill gates, the canteen was situated on the left where my dad used to organise 'bob hops'.
